Update: February 17 2010

(update 02/17/10: In response to this article Garrison did tell me that there shouldn’t have been anything wrong as far as expiring is concerned. They told me that the very nature of the beer is to have a very strong taste. In a nice way they called me a pussy and just said that it wasnt a beer for the weak hearted. I can except that. They were happy I had tried the Tall ship Amber ale and made note that it is one of their fastest growing ales. They also suggested I try their “Hopyard Pale”. I guess for you guys I’ll try that this weekend. Ill let you know how it goes.  It was great that they got back to me though and answered my questions)

Im sitting here waiting for the fine snow removal team to get off their ass’ and plow my street so I can go to work. But while I wait I thought I would share a story with you. Recently I have started to listen to CBC radio here in Halifax because my commute is longer then it used to be and I need to be entertained while I drive. Given that the rest of the radio stations here in Halifax lick donkey balls I’m forced to listen to the one station that will at the very least have grown up conversation about a number of subjects therefor keeping me entertained.

Twice on my drive home I had heard two different people on two different shows talk about Garrison breweries Imperial I.P.A. I do like beer, like it so much I named one of my reoccurring characters here Ale. It was said that the mentioned ale won best Canadian beer two years in a row (‘07 and ‘08) so I thought I must try this beer out.

I had some issues getting my hands on this beer but that had more to do with me being lazy and not looking hard enough for it. I was looking for a case of this and as it turned out I could only find them in individual bottles, so I bought one at approximately $4.

I was very excited to try this, just the other weekend I had tried Garrisons Tall ship Amber ale and it was pretty good, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again. This on the other hand tasted not so good.

I was shocked at how god awful it was. It was so bad I didnt even finish it. Maybe it was personal taste in beer that didnt allow me to like this, but at that same time I’ve tried a lot of beer and I dont remember ever not finishing my beer.

when I gave up on it the guys on verbalbrew asked when it was bottled, thinking that maybe it was skunky and that may be the case. The bottled date was Nov ‘09 so maybe it was just bad. All I know is that I’m not going to try it again at $4, forget that.

Not to leave this on a bad not, as I said before I tried their amber Ale and it was really good so I guess I’ll try some more but Ill be leaving the award winning Imperial to its self .

So here we are, just a few pages away from the end of  “A Slice of Fate: The mini-series” and soon we will be starting the on going series. First, however, I have a little surprise for you. A short story staring non other then Adam from issue 2.

I hope you guys like it. Its gonna be a bit of different art style then what I’ve been showing you, but I’m excited to see if I can pull it off. Dont worry though, its only a few pages and then we’ll be deep into the chronicles of Slice… oh and for those of you wonder who the hell Raghnall is, it’s Slices real name. Check out the characters page for that.

What the hell kind of name is Raghnall anyways you ask. Well, when I was fleshing out the character I was looking in a book about old Scottish names and I decided to use the name Raghanll because it’s the root name for Ronald, which is my dads name.

Later
